PBGA Spring Kick-Off: Tournament Recap

The 2026 season officially got underway and while the forecast looked shaky, the rain stayed away and gave us a great day for golf. The course conditions were excellent for early May, with fairways in good shape and greens that rolled consistently well throughout the day. This event marked the debut of our new 4-Player Blind Draw format—pairing the 1 Best Ball of the AB pair with the 1 Best Ball of the CD pair. The feedback was fantastic, with the majority of the field enjoying the new team dynamic.
Individual Standouts

  • The "Birdie Machine": Scott Petersen and Wayne St. Cyr led the field with 4 birdies each.

  • Mr. Consistency: Russ Silvia turned in an incredibly clean card with 12 pars.

  • Shot of the Day: Mark Berube carded the lone Eagle of the tournament on the par-5 14th.

Course Stats

  • Toughest Hole: Hole #2 (Avg score 5.64 on the Par 4) played as the hardest hole on the course.

  • Birdie Alley: Hole #14 gave up the most red numbers, with 10 birdies and 1 eagle recorded.

  • Green Consistency: Despite the early season, the field managed to card 312 total pars across the board.

Hole #12: The Par 3 Trap

  • The Breakdown: This was statistically the biggest "jump" in difficulty. A hole that usually ranks among the easiest was the 5th most difficult on Saturday. The field managed only 1 single birdie while carding a staggering 27 scores worse than bogey. It’s clear that finding the surface or sticking the green was a major challenge for the field.

Hole #13: Heavy Hitting

  • The Breakdown: Jumping from 8th to 3rd in difficulty, Hole #13 was a scorecard killer. The field only managed 9 pars total. With nearly 40% of the field carding a Double Bogey or worse, the 368-yard Par 4 proved to be one of the most penalizing stretches of the back nine.

Hole #9: The Front Nine Finisher

  • The Breakdown: While it's a Par 5, playing over 1.2 strokes over par is a tough pill to swallow. It moved up five spots in the difficulty rankings. Only one player managed a birdie here, while 20 players (nearly a third of the field) took a Double Bogey or higher.
